Who is Shelly Anne Claire?

Attending University for two semesters studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in Creative Writing, she decided to drop out and pursue writing full time. During this time the very first draft of her debut novel would already have taken shape. It was only after a vivid naptime dream; she had that a story began to unfold before her eyes. Soon enough, University was no longer fit for her pathway.

Starting her writing journey in 2020, Shelly Anne Claire published her first book A VAULT OF NINE LIVES in November 2021. It remained published for a mere two weeks before she took it down and began to re-evaluate. At this time, she had lost hope and confidence in herself, doubting her drive, passion, skill, and desire to becoming an author. She would go on to take a six month break from writing all together.

The following year, Shelly Anne Claire found her calling once more. Reading books didn’t feel the same after she had quit writing and soon enough after exiting a reading slump, she found the will and drive to start writing again. It would be during March of 2022 that she invested everything into rewriting and republishing A VAULT OF NINE LIVES.

For the next seven – eight months, she picked up the broken shards of herself and slowly began to put them back together, starting with splitting the original book in half and rewriting over 100k words. The original series was planned as a Duology but had now been structured to make room for a third book, making this Book One in the Dreamwalker Trilogy series.

While working on restructuring the book, a lot was happening behind the scenes. Shelly Anne Claire began to the long, slow and methodical process of a new cover was being designed, a fantastic editor had been brought onto the project, a fabulous marketing team, and endless hours of online research into Self-Publishing.

During all of this, she was working fifty-to-sixty-hour weeks at both of her part time jobs, leaving only a small window during the afternoon after finishing her morning job and before starting her evening job, to work on her third job – her Author Business. After working a six-day working week, she would often spend her weekends working behind the scenes on A VAULT OF NINE LIVES and all the tiny specs that needed to take place before the initial re-release of the book.

Shelly Anne Claire has no expectations to become a well-known or even popular author and has grown quite comfortable in the safety of her introvert bubble. Her only dream is to share the stories she writes with likeminded people, to offer a candle flame in an otherwise darkened library. While she is a reader who admires hundreds of talented and wonderful authors, she is a writer who sought to create the very stories her heart churned for, and her soul craved. She writes for herself, and for the small, unhealed version of herself that wants to escape reality. As an empathetic person, she shares her stories and creates visually stunning editions of her books for readers of all walks of life to enjoy.

In her free time, as rare and little as there is, Shelly participates in self-care routines and mental health checks on herself. Some of her favourite things to do is to bake, painting by numbers, spending time with her fur babies (Jupiter and Mars) and participate in new hobbies. Her previous project was creating a cat play area out of her enclosed courtyard filled with fantastical themed cat houses and climbing trees! This month she will be turning a boring pink fluffy couch into a cow print couch.
